=== HU-038: Student (Student E) explicitly confirmed by placement coordinator that 36 hours was total in-person requirement; completed 36 hours; discovered at semester end he was 48 hours short === {| class="wikitable" style="width:100%" ! style="width:12em" | Severity | High ! style="width:12em" | Status | CONFIRMED |- ! Issue type | Staff Misinformation / Accommodation Failure ! Date added | 2026-05-04 |- ! Owner | colspan="3" | Clinical Placement / Program Chair |} '''Finding.''' A student, identified as Student E, was explicitly confirmed by a placement coordinator that 36 hours was his total in-person clinical requirement, completed 36 hours, and discovered at semester end he was actually 48 hours short of the required 84. '''Evidence.''' MSN-DE DEC 2026 COHORT GroupMe, April 15 to 16, 2026. Student E described calling and asking, mind you, whether he only needed 4 days total, since something did not make sense when the system says 84 hours are needed. He said he was told that whatever was put in his core ELMS was correct, that he asked again to be sure and was told the same thing again, and then boom, the coordinator had been wrong the whole time. The placement coordinator later tried to make everything his fault. '''Reported statement.''' Student E, a student pseudonym, paraphrased that he had called twice to confirm the requirement, was told each time the number in his records was correct, and later learned the coordinator had been wrong the entire time; he added that the coordinator then tried to place blame on him. '''Standards.''' Promissory estoppel and reliance doctrine hold that a student who confirms a program requirement with an institutional representative and acts in good faith reliance on that confirmation cannot be held responsible for the institutional error. ACEN Standard 4 and 34 CFR 668.14 are also implicated. '''Impact.''' The student completed the semester 48 hours short of the clinical requirement through no fault of his own, received an incomplete, and faced delayed program completion, all based on confirmed staff misinformation. '''Notes.''' The placement coordinator reportedly called the student and tried to make the situation his fault, a response inconsistent with the documented facts.
