=== Unlicensed assistive personnel === UAP include nursing assistants, patient care technicians, and similar roles. They are unlicensed, so every task they perform is performed under the license of the delegating nurse. Typical delegable tasks for a stable client include: * Bathing, oral care, grooming, dressing, and other activities of daily living. * Assisting with feeding when the client has no swallowing impairment. * Vital signs on a stable client. * Ambulation, transfers, positioning, and range of motion for an established plan. * Intake and output measurement, and daily weights. * Routine specimen collection, such as a clean-catch urine sample. * Bedmaking, stocking, and transporting. UAP do not assess, do not teach, do not evaluate, do not administer medications in most settings, and do not take responsibility for clients who are unstable.
