== How the LPN Receives Delegated Work == The supervising RN, or in some settings a physician or other authorized provider, directs the LPN's work. When receiving an assignment or a delegated task, the LPN should confirm: * Who the patients are, their diagnoses, and their current stability. * What specific tasks are expected, and any patient specific modifications. * What findings must be reported, and the threshold and timeframe for reporting them. * Who the supervising RN is for the shift and how to reach that person immediately. * What the priorities are when several tasks compete for time. Asking clarifying questions before accepting is a professional behavior, not a sign of weakness. Accepting an unclear assignment and then failing to complete it safely is the greater risk.
