== What the RN cannot delegate == The following are non-delegable RN activities: * Initial and comprehensive assessment, and any assessment requiring interpretation or judgment. * Formulating nursing diagnoses. * Establishing goals and outcomes and creating or revising the plan of care. * Evaluation of client progress and of the effectiveness of care. * Initial client and family teaching, and evaluation of learning. * Care of an unstable, deteriorating, or unpredictable client. * Triage decisions and the exercise of nursing judgment in general. * Most invasive or high-risk procedures when the delegatee is unlicensed, including intravenous medication administration and blood product administration. A memory aid used widely is that the RN may not delegate anything that requires the nursing process: '''A'''ssess, '''D'''iagnose, '''P'''lan, '''E'''valuate, plus '''T'''each. Implementation of specified tasks is what gets delegated.
